This is the story of a small boy who dreamt of becoming a doctor and then decided to progress as an entrepreneur to provide best medical practices to his patients.
Dr D K Gupta was born in a rural village in Shahjahanpur Districtin the state of Uttar Pradesh. His father worked as a junior employee in Zila Panchayat; his mother was a teacher in Primary School.The poverty-stricken family of Dr Gupta had an awning between two small vending kiosks that serve as their shelter. It was in this depleted shelter that they were forced to sleep for many a nights.
Dr Gupta got his primary education from a small school. His desire to learn gave him courage to walk seven kilometres daily to reach his school.Though things were fine but sudden demise of his father at a tender age of nine years brought both emotional and financial instabilitiesto the family.

With no backing and clueless future,Dr Gupta moved to Noida to his elder sister’s place along with his mother. The real struggle started when all the schools in the big city rejected his application for admission with an excuse that, as a Hindi Medium student, he would not be able to cope up with the English medium curriculum.However, his mother managed and succeeded to get his admission done in one of the government schools over there.
During those critical days, Dr Gupta studied under the street light and slept in the compound of a house, as there was no separate room or space for him to stay and study. He did all odd jobs for his livelihoodsuch asa popcorn seller at famous tourist spots, a parking money collector, a factory worker and so on. All these jobs helped him tomanage his tuition fees and purchase books.
The harsh circumstances including absence of any guidance, shortage of money, improper schooling, and early demise of his father, to top it all, did not dishearten him. Instead, it led him to dream big and aim for the sky.
With backbreaking hard work, Dr Gupta cleared the entrance exam for MBBS, but his struggle continued. The authorities somehow lost his form and his seat was given to someone else. After a yearlong scuffle (at the age of 18 years) with them, fighting with the Bureaucratic System, attending multiple hearings in the High Court, he finally earned his rightful seat at LLRM Medical College in Meerut. Dr Gupta worked extremely hard to pursue his objective of becoming a doctor and won multiple Gold Medals in various subjects. Later on, he did his specialization in the field of Paediatrics.He then published and presented several journals, research papers, articles at various National and International conferences and workshops.
During this tough journey, he met a simple and charming girl ‘Dr Rashmi’ who later on became his life partner. She too has been awarded many gold medals and is currently a renowned Paediatrician.

During this period, Dr Gupta worked from the ground level. Due to limited resources (both money and manpower), he himself made the project reports, supervised construction, negotiated with banks for lower interest rates, purchasedequipment based on latest technology and did all the jobs required to build a hospital.
Overcoming all the hurdles met at every stage of establishing a hospital i.e. from allotment of land to build hospital till its opening, he opened doors for needy and deprived patients in a record time of 14 months.
A dream, which was nurtured by both Dr D. K. Gupta and Dr Rashmi Gupta turned into reality in Aug 2015, when FELIX Hospital came into operation. This brought laurels not only from the financial institutions but also from various quality monitoring and assessment authorities.
